Working with a noble and natural material such as wood requires a high level of corporate commitment. Respect for the environment is Scierie Lemaire's primary commitment in all its activities.
Sustainable management is the main challenge in preserving the environment while working with wood, a material indispensable to our daily lives.
Environmental protection
Reforestation
Replanting trees has always been common sense in the sawmill industry. To support this effort, Scierie Lemaire participates in the 'Plantons pour l'avenir' reforestation fund. This initiative includes a real-time counter which ensures that 10 trees are planted in our region for every lorry load of timber delivered.
Reforestation is essential to build a forest resource for future generations. Forest regeneration is a top priority.
Green transition
Scierie Lemaire is committed to contributing to the current ecological transition in order to improve the world for future generations. Wood allows us to replace fossil fuels and carbon emitting constructions with a natural material that stores CO2, creating a better world for the next generation.
Scierie Lemaire recycles 100% of its products and produces green electricity using a biomass boiler fuelled by wood chips, with a zero waste policy.
A quality model that is unique in Europe.
The production unit at Petite-Raon offers a unique industrial model in Europe. Our innovative technology sets us apart in terms of quality and efficiency. For example: • Our debarker, the fastest in the world, operates at a speed of 152 metres per minute (there are only three such machines in France). • In addition, an X-ray scanner measures the density of the wood and analyses its core to optimise cutting. We are the only sawmill in Europe to classify wood in this way. • A 3D scanner calculates the optimum cut to reduce waste during sawing.
Our 140 metre long saw line uses artificial intelligence at all levels. The different technologies communicate with each other to optimise each stage of the process. In addition, Scierie Lemaire adheres to a strict quality charter under the Sélection Vosges label, and applies grading standards for both visual sorting (NF EN 1611-1 standard) and structural sorting (NF B 52-001 standard).
