1957
Founded in 1957 by Roland Lemaire, a farmer who bought a small wood operation with the desire to work with this noble material he grew up with. The Vosges native loved his territory and the surrounding Vosges forests. His passion quickly grew, and the family business expanded.
In the 1970s
Development accelerated, transforming the company from an artisanal business into a true industrial entity. The wood industry evolved, accompanied by many new technologies supporting Scierie Lemaire's employees.
In 1987
The Sélection Vosges brand was created with the contribution of Scierie Lemaire. This was a small revolution in the wood sector. Resinous woods bearing the Sélection Vosges logo are now governed by a common quality charter: strict grading of fir and spruce sawlogs, state-of-the-art high-precision installations, and strict adherence to environmental standards. This initiative brought Vosges sawmills closer together.
From 1996 to 2005
The sawmill underwent a major modernisation, including the installation of one of the most modern sawing lines in Europe, the "Canter-circulaire".
In 2007
This period of significant growth led to the purchase of la Petite-Raon site in 2007 and the creation of a group of sawmills, initially called "Fibre Lorraine". Now called Fibre Premium, the group has 12 member sawmills in Lorraine, Auvergne and the Alps. This balanced structure puts French wood back at the forefront of priorities and purchases. In 2017, Fibre Premium expanded its customer base by gaining recognition in DIY stores.
In the 2010s
The sawmill continues to develop by investing in new R&D projects, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and growth.
2015-2018
This year marks a new turning point with the opening of a new sawmill in La Petite-Raon. This expansion is part of a strategy to maximise the use of wood resources and minimise waste.
2020
On 6 August 2020, a fire broke out at the Moussey sawmill, causing significant damage and disrupting the company's operations. It was a major setback for the company. However, the teams quickly adapted and found solutions to continue working. Thanks to the real solidarity of the Vosges region, the sawmill managed to supply its customers every day despite the immense challenges. This event has left an indelible mark on the history of Scierie Lemaire, sparking unwavering motivation within the company and pushing boundaries.
2022 - La Petite Raon
Two years later, through hard work and ingenuity, the sawmill celebrates its expansion. A new production unit in Petite-Raon joined Moussey: a next-generation sawmill, unique in Europe, equipped with highly innovative tools.
2022 - Moussey
After the fire, the Moussey sawmill was rebuilt in record time, resulting in an even more modern and efficient production unit than before. It's time to turn the page on this tragic event and look to the future with a more motivated team than ever!
